One by one, magazines and newspapers are shutting their doors these days. Most recently Blender and King shut down, now it’s Vibe. With XXL left (The Source has too much politics involved) I’m subscribing right now…..we can’t let hip-hop publications die out like this. Here’s a statement from Danyel Smith (former Editor in Chief):
On behalf the VIBE CONTENT staff (the best in this business), it is with great sadness, and with heads held high, that we leave the building today. We were assigning and editing a Michael Jackson tribute issue when we got the news. It’s a tragic week in overall, but as the doors of VIBE Media Group close, on the eve of the magazine’s sixteenth anniversary, it’s a sad day for music, for hip hop in particular, and for the millions of readers and users who have loved and who continue to love the VIBE brand. We thank you, we have served you with joy, pride and excellence, and we will miss you.
Danyel Smith
the former Chief Content Officer VIBE Media Group
& Editor in Chief, VIBE
Nixon is back with two new colorways for the Rubber Player collection. Now you can add purple & black to the previous four colors. Looks like the Rubber Player is here to stay.
The BET Awards last night received mixed reviews but for us it was everything we expected and some. Some criticize the production and say it was disorganized but we must all keep in mind that producing a show is hard enough, then to have the biggest Icon EVER pass three days before and include a proper tribute is alot to do. Either way we thought the show was great…..and Jamie was HILARIOUS! Janet definitely brought it all into perspective and the tribute performances were beautiful….especially Ne-Yo. Here are some pics of last night.
